Youth Programs

Firelands Electric Co-op's commitment to community continues with our youth programs; funding scholarships for graduating high school seniors, sponsoring the Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., for high school sophomores and juniors and offering electric safety magic shows to local youth organizations and school systems.

Scholarship Opportunities

Since 1954 Ohio's electric cooperatives have been helping graduating seniors continue their education through local and statewide scholarship competitions. Firelands Electric and Ohio's Electric Cooperatives offer local and statewide scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Click here to learn more about our scholarship opportunities.

Youth Tour Experience

Firelands Electric, in cooperation with the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives (OREC) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), sponsor two high school sophomores or juniors on a week long expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Click here to learn more about Youth Tour.

Electrical Safety Education

Firelands Electric offers electrical safety education programs for organizations, civic groups and first responders within and surrounding the cooperative's service territory that illustrate the potential dangers of electricity. The cooperative provides safety demonstrations for local elementary schools, local Safety Town and Touch-A-Truck events.
